Hackathon 3.0 Closing Event Final Fridays: Hack the Museum May 25, 5:00–8:45 p.m.

Experience the closing event for the Museum's third-annual Hackathon. For the past month, hackers have been working to create a way to help visitors find their new favorite artwork in our collection. Experience their creations in the galleries and vote for your favorite to win the People’s Choice Award

Submission Deadline 5/9/2018 10p.m.

Hi everyone,

Wednesday May 9th is our last Hacklab and submission deadline! Our staff will be available to answer questions and help out. There will be pizza for morale!
Don’t wait till the last minute!
After submitting your project, you can still make edits until 10pm. After 10pm, all submissions will be locked.

Submission checklist:
-Add all your team members to your project
-Write a description of your project
-Link video (maximum 2 minutes) that demonstrates the app in use
-Include stills and/or video screen grab captures
-Pick one main image to represent your project

Rescource Update


Hi everyone!

We’re adding resources in response to some inquiries.


We’ll make available in our Slack channel and GitHub a list of HTML tagged publication content exported into excel, as seen at the bottom of some object pages on  The list contains ObjectIDs and object numbers.  Many objects have more than one publication.  You can use ObjectID as a key to link this content to the API data that you might be using.


Also coming soon to GitHub and Slack, two export csv files listing all the audio tour stops and the tour types.

April 11 Hacklab

For the Hacklab tonight, we ask that you check in with admissions and inform them you are here for the Hackathon. Hacklabs will be held in the South Terrace Conference Rooms in the Main Building and any visitor services assistant or security guard can point you in the right direction. They will direct you back towards the Temporary Cafeteria and a museum staff member will be waiting to direct you back the rest of the way. There will be pizza for participants after the presentations.

Thank you for registering for the Philadelphia Museum of Art Hackathon 3.0! Please be aware of the following requirements:

1. Team members must purchase a hackathon entry here in order to be eligible to win. To submit a project on DevPost, you'll be asked for your Order Confirmation number on your Hackathon entry from the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

2. You must be in the Philadelphia area to participate. There are several in-person events and attendance is an essential part of your participation.
